After Crash, Air India Reduces International Flights by 15% After Crash

New Delhi: Air India is cutting 15% of its international flights on wide-body planes. This decision comes after a deadly crash of an Ahmedabad to London flight on June 12. The crash killed 241 people. Over 30 people on the ground also died. It was the worst air crash in India in many years. Air India Reduces International Flights by 15% After Crash.

Safety Checks Underway

Air India is now checking its planes for safety. The airline owns 33 Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft. Out of these, 26 have passed inspection. The rest will be checked soon.

The airline also said it will now do more safety checks on its Boeing 777 planes. These steps are being taken to avoid any more accidents.

Why Flights Are Being Cancelled

The airline said there are many problems affecting flight schedules:

  • Extra safety checks
  • Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East
  • Night flying curfews in parts of Europe and East Asia
  • A cautious approach by pilots and engineering teams

Because of all this, Air India has cancelled 83 flights in the last six days.

To keep things running smoothly, the airline will reduce international flights using large planes (Boeing 787s and 777s) by 15%. These cuts will start now and continue till at least mid-July.

If you are planning to fly with Air India between June 20 and mid-July, here are some important things you should keep in mind:

1. Check Your Flight Status Early

Before you go to the airport, make sure to check your flight status online or with customer service. Some flights may be cancelled. Others may leave at a different time or use a different type of aircraft.

You can check your flight in the following ways:

  • Visit the Air India website
  • Use the Air India mobile app
  • Call the Air India helpline
  • Ask at the airport counter

It’s best to check your flight at least 24 hours before departure.

2. What Happens If Your Flight Is Cancelled?

If your flight is cancelled due to safety checks or flight cuts, Air India will offer you three options:

Option 1: Book a New Flight

You can choose a new flight on a different day or time.
There will be no extra charge for this change.
This is the best option if you still want to travel.

Option 2: Get a Full Refund

If you don’t want to fly anymore, you can get your money back.
Air India will give you a full refund, even for non-refundable tickets.

Option 3: Fly with Another Airline

If no Air India flights are available, they may offer you a seat on another airline.
This depends on availability and your route.
You won’t need to pay extra if this option is offered.

3. Air India Focuses on Safety First

Air India has said that safety is more important than anything else.
They are doing full checks on their big planes (like Boeing 787 and 777).
Because of this, some flights will be fewer or delayed.
The airline is asking for your patience and support during this time.
